Let’s talk about our mental health 🤗 How are you today? Like really, how are you today? I don’t know about you, but I have this habit of telling everyone that “I’m good thank you!” even when I’m really not. And I know a lot of the people I care about do the same thing.
This creates a massive disconnect within ourselves, and somewhere along the way we often end up feeling worse. So challenge yourself (in a loving way!) to answer honestly when someone you love and trust asks you how you are. Your feelings are valid and they deserve compassion from you ❤️
T/W: suicide
I drew this piece in honour of my beautiful friend Tash, who took her own life last year after being completely let down by the mental health system. She reached out for help, and she was failed. She’s the mum of three amazing little boys. Everyone who loves her has been broken by this, including myself. Mental health support should be accessible to everyone. No one should ever be at breaking point before they receive help. And certainly no one at breaking point should ever be left without the help they desperately need.
We need to change the way that we view mental health. We need to talk. We need to be honest. We need to build a society and a health system in which mental health is nurtured, not dismissed.
This is available as a print in the shop – there will be a charity donation attached to it, and trees will be planted! The rest of the proceeds will be put into a fund for Tash’s boys 💛
